12 Days of Organizational Ideas / Day 2
Is your garage floor dirty? Concrete is a very porous surface that can collect a lot of dirt and grime, which can be tracked onto your home’s clean floors.
There are several ways to tackle a grimy garage floor:
1. Pressure Washing: Pressure washing your concrete can help clean up dirt and debris. However, although this may solve a short-term problem, it doesn’t change the retentive nature of concrete.
2. Epoxy Coatings: Painting the floor with an epoxy paint can clean up the garage floor and make it far more difficult for dirt to permeate into the concrete. The issue with this method is that it doesn’t last long…. especially in damp climates and/or high traffic areas. After one or two Vancouver winters, epoxy floors lift and peel and cannot be properly repaired.
3. Polyurethane Garage Floor Coating: Enhanced with resinous flooring technology, Polyurethane garage floor coatings can withstand extreme temperature changes, damp climates and high traffic volume. Polyurethane floor coatings are resistant to stains, spills, and slips and cost as little at $6.5/per sq ft to install. They can also be installed and driven on in the same day.
